Kellogg's Cards - Missing Letters

There are no players with last names beginning with 'I', 'U' or 'X' in a Kellogg's set.  There were MLB players from 1969 - 1982 with two of those letters.

There were six players with the letter 'I' during this time.  The most well known were:
  • Dane & Garth Iorg.  Dane had a great World Series for St. Louis in 1982.  Brother Garth played against him in the playoffs in 1985.  Both had long careers.
  • In only 133 games during 1979, Mike Ivie had 27 home runs and 89 RBIs.  This wasn't enough to get him into a Kellogg's set.

During this time there were nine players whose name began with the letter 'U'.  Willie Upshaw was the most well known.  In 1982 he hit 21 home runs and had 75 RBIs.  Playing for Toronto didn't help since the Blue Jays were a team that Kellogg's skipped in 1981 and 1982.

There have been no players in MLB history who have a last name beginning with the letter 'X'.  There were some with first names beginning with 'X'.
