John McGraw was born on this day in 1873. He had a few really good seasons, but he made it into the All-Time Greats set as a manager.
He won 10 NL pennants and three World Series titles. In his 33 years he also had 11 second-place finishes. Overall, his teams won at a .586 pace. By today's standards, that would be an average record of 95-67 each year.
